American underwhelmed by socialist Nordic country

Life in Finland is supposed to be as perfect as this staircase in Helsinki University Library, Wonderby thought.

TUSCON – Expecting an overwhelming sense of peace and justice that comes only from a perfectly-engineered Northern-European socialist society, American tourist Jeff Wonderby was woefully disappointed after visiting Helsinki, Finland, for two days.

“I had heard that in the Nordic countries, no one speaks a negative word, that mothers leave their babies on the street while they are in the store,” Wonderby said, “So I was appalled to see homeless people laying on the sidewalk, a drunk man cursing, and to feel as unsafe as I feel in America.”

“I guess I just need to visit Norway to really understand,” Wonderby added.
