DENVER – Saying she found Melbourne and Sydney quite beautiful and very livable, American Melanie Ritter said after arriving back to the States that, on the down side, she found the lack of kangaroos extremely disappointing.
“I expected there to be kangaroos on the side of the road, or in a park, or just somewhere, anywhere,” Melanie said. “But I never saw one. I can’t believe it. Did I really go to Australia?”
Melanie said every turn she made, every museum she visited, every coffee shop she tried, she was just waiting for a kangaroo to jump into view, hopping down the street, baby in pouch, going about its daily life.
“But it never happened,” she said. “I really wonder — what happened to all the kangaroos? What has Australia done to them?”
